Reverend Dr. Carl Que Hickerson, Senior Pastor “Dynamic, prophetic and visionary” are words that have all been used to describe the preaching style of Rev. Dr. C. Que Hickerson. Born into a family and tradition of pastoral Christian leaders, Carl gained a true passion and appreciation for ministry at a young age. Driven by a mission to preach to the world and equip individuals for the work of the ministry, he feels a true connection with God and the universal church believing that his own life's mission is to share his gift with others. He accepted his call into the ministry, received his license and ordination under the pastoral training and guidance of his father Rev. Dr. Willis M. Hickerson.
As an assistant to his father, Rev. Dr. C. Que Hickerson spearheaded the creation of the Combined Outreach Ministry, and was integral in revitalizing the youth ministry. He created and managed the Southwestern Regional office for One Church One Child of Pennsylvania whose mission was to find permanent homes for children in foster care.
Rev. Dr. Hickerson accepted an assignment at the Resurrection Baptist Church in Braddock, Pennsylvania and served the congregation for more than 6 years. Through strong leadership and outreach efforts, he increased membership sevenfold, and established the church as a ministry center for the community. He led the acquisition of a new worship facility, served as President of the Greater Braddock Ministerial Association and founded Resurrection Power, Inc., a faith based community Development Corporation.
In 2002, Dr. Hickerson accepted the call as Lead Pastor of Destiny Baptist Church in Martinsburg West Virginia. Under his leadership, the church continued to thrive and grow, and provide a joyful place of worship and community. He imparted his values and vision of worship, wellness, wholeness and wisdom to this congregation, and was instrumental in establishing over 30 active mission teams and ministries. He guided an unprecedented development of congregational and laity leadership. Within his tenure, he created 2 satellite congregations in Virginia and Maryland. Dr. C. Que spearheaded the development of a 33 acre community project “Destiny Pointe”. During this time Dr. C. Que founded the Destiny Point Community Development Corporation, the Ministry of Hope, and paid off over $2MM in church debt. His visionary leadership allowed this congregation to enjoy an expanding circle of influence in the community. He is a former Member of the Berkley County Board of Education Diversity Committee, Past President of the Berkeley County Branch of the NAACP. He served as President of the Imani Foundation Inc. as well as 2nd Vice President of the West Virginia State Convention of the Progressive National Baptist Convention.
He is a direct mentor and coach for over 25 preaching licentiates and ordained pastors. He is the co-founder of One Hope Ministries International. He is the founder and overseer of the Worshiplife Congregation of Inwood West Virginia.
Rev. Dr. C. Que Hickerson has earned his Masters of Divinity Degree and Doctor of Ministry Degree from the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He has learned, served, preached and taught nationally and internationally. He lives with his wife Carmen and they enjoy and raise a daughter, Octavia Belle.
On July 10th 2011, Rev. Dr. C. Que Hickerson received the call to become the seventh pastor of the historic Springfield Baptist Church of Washington DC. |
